Dragusin Thrilled to Join Fiorentina, Reflects on Tottenham Growth
Radu Dragusin has voiced his immense satisfaction with his move to Fiorentina, stating, "I couldn’t wait to get here." He also acknowledged that his time at Tottenham Hotspur "helped me grow a great deal."
The Romanian defender finalized his transfer to the Viola earlier today. The deal is structured as a loan with an obligation to purchase at the conclusion of the season, contingent upon specific conditions being met.
Dragusin Returns to Serie A
"I feel really good, I am so happy to be here and can’t wait to get started with the lads on the pitch," Dragusin shared with the official Fiorentina website.
The Romania international is already proficient in Italian, having spent a significant portion of his career in Italy. His journey in the country began in 2018 with the Juventus youth academy. Following loan spells at Sampdoria and Salernitana, he truly excelled at Genoa starting in 2022.
This impressive performance led to his €28 million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur in January 2024. Now, he returns to Italy on loan for €1.5 million, with an option to buy for an additional €17.5 million, which will be activated upon his 22nd appearance for Fiorentina.
"I had already visited Florence a few times as a tourist when playing for Genoa; it's a beautiful city with lovely people. We have a big season ahead, and we are determined to perform well," Dragusin added.
"My experience at Tottenham was incredibly beneficial for my development, both as a player and as a person. I will take with me the memory of many challenging duels against opposition strikers and the high quality of the players I competed against. It helped me mature, and I hope to bring that experience to this new team."
Dragusin will also find some familiar faces within the current Fiorentina squad.
"I played with Albert Gudmundsson before at Genoa, and we have a great connection. I also know Fagioli, Kean, and Ranieri, and we’ve exchanged messages in the last few days. I was eagerly anticipating my arrival here."
Dragusin's tenure at Tottenham was significantly impacted by a severe knee injury, where he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in January 2025, sidelining him for nearly a year.
