Aston Villa Show Interest in Juventus Forward David, Potentially Unlocking Zirkzee Pursuit

Aston Villa have reportedly enquired about the availability of Juventus forward Jonathan David. This move by Unai Emery's squad could be a significant factor in Juventus' own plans for strengthening their attack.

According to reports, Aston Villa have explored the possibility of signing the Canadian striker, potentially on a loan deal, without initiating formal negotiations at this stage.

The interest from Aston Villa is seen as beneficial for Juventus. The club's management is actively working to secure a new forward for manager Luciano Spalletti. However, the financial viability of such a signing hinges on Juventus first selling David, which would provide the necessary funds to complete a transfer.

David's Sale Could Clear Path for Zirkzee to Juventus

Joshua Zirkzee is the primary target for Juventus to bolster their attacking line. The Manchester United striker is admired for his ability to drop deep, link up play effectively, and create space for teammates, qualities that would complement rather than duplicate existing players. Manchester United have reportedly indicated a willingness to sanction a loan move for Zirkzee.

However, Juventus must first create space within their squad. Jonathan David's potential departure is viewed as the crucial domino that could set these other transfer plans in motion.

David's first season in Turin has been challenging. He joined on a free transfer from Lille last summer with a strong reputation but only managed to score eight goals throughout the campaign. While often a reserve under coach Igor Tudor, he showed signs of improvement after Spalletti's arrival. Three goals for Canada at the World Cup offered a glimpse of the player Aston Villa are hoping to help rediscover.

Complicating matters further is David's reported desire to stay at Juventus and impress Spalletti. Additionally, Crystal Palace are also said to be monitoring his situation. The financial aspects, including his €6 million salary, present another hurdle. Nevertheless, Aston Villa's interest has at least initiated movement in the transfer market.
