The U.S. Women`s Open is recognized as one of the most esteemed tournaments on the LPGA Tour calendar. Its history dates back to 1946, and it has been held annually ever since. The inaugural event was contested using a match-play format. The record for the most U.S. Women`s Open victories is shared by Betsy Rawls (who won in 1951, 1953, 1957, and 1960) and Mickey Wright (with wins in 1958, 1959, 1961, and 1964), each securing the title four times.

In the 2025 U.S. Women`s Open championship, Maja Stark emerged victorious, finishing two strokes ahead of world number one Nelly Korda and Rio Takeda to claim the title.
