Honored Coach of the Russian Federation, Viktor Yanchuk, recently offered his insights into Daniil Medvedev`s current performance and form.
Medvedev participated in the recent Beijing tournament, where he advanced to the semi-finals. However, he had to withdraw from the match, trailing Learner Tien with a score of 7/5, 5/7, 0/4.
Yanchuk believes that Medvedev`s showing at the tournament clearly indicated his return to top-level play. “Daniil was performing exceptionally well until he began to experience cramps,” Yanchuk commented. He further elaborated, “Medvedev exhibited a reliable game, coupled with moments of sharp, aggressive play. Had he been fully healthy, it is highly probable he would have reached the final.” Expressing confidence in the tennis star`s recovery, Yanchuk added, “I don`t think anything serious has happened to him; otherwise, Daniil would have already withdrawn from his upcoming tournament.”
