Victoria Azarenka Announces Injury Update

Former world No. 1 and two-time Grand Slam champion, Belarusian tennis player Victoria Azarenka, has released a statement regarding her recent injury.

In her statement, Azarenka said: “Quick update on my injury: I am currently undergoing diagnostics and officially starting my rehabilitation and training. The positive aspect is that there is no long-term damage, but it will still require some time to achieve a full recovery. I am very grateful for all the messages and support I`ve received – it truly means a lot.”

She also added, “I want to thank my opponent, Karolina, for her understanding and kindness. Unfortunately, injuries are an inherent part of professional sports. I am focused on overcoming this setback, working hard, and looking ahead to my next steps.” Azarenka shared this message on her social media.

The injury forced Azarenka to retire from her second-round match against Czech player Karolina Muchova at the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, USA. The match concluded with Muchova leading 6/0.
