The already intense 2025 Formula 1 championship battle is poised for even greater drama, with three Sprint race weekends scheduled within the final six rounds of the season.
Lando Norris of McLaren has significantly narrowed the gap to his teammate, Oscar Piastri, now trailing by just 22 points. Meanwhile, Red Bull`s Max Verstappen remains a formidable contender, currently 63 points behind the Australian driver.
Although Piastri currently holds an advantage, the potential for an additional 24 points from the 100km Saturday Sprint races in Austin, Sao Paulo, and Qatar presents a significant opportunity for Norris to mount a championship comeback.
This season`s unique calendar sees the Sprint format make its anticipated return at the United States Grand Prix in Texas this weekend, marking its first appearance since July`s Belgian Grand Prix. The format will then alternate through the remaining rounds, imposing a tight schedule where drivers receive only a single practice session before Sprint Qualifying commences.
