Dutch tennis player Tallon Griekspoor commented on the conclusion of his third-round match at the Shanghai Masters tournament against world No. 2 Jannik Sinner.
Sinner, the Italian player, was forced to withdraw from the game at a score of 7/6 (3), 5/7, 2/3 in the third set due to leg cramps, which automatically advanced Griekspoor to the next round.
Following the match, Griekspoor expressed his regret: “This is not how I wanted to win. The conditions in Shanghai are extremely tough; it`s been noticeable all week. We were fortunate that the match was played in the evening, without direct sun… The match lasted 2 hours and 36 minutes and was halted in the middle of the third set. I genuinely feel sorry for Jannik and hope for his swift recovery.”
In the Round of 16 at the Shanghai tournament, Griekspoor will face Valentin Vacherot from Monaco, who holds the 204th position in the world rankings.
