Stefanos Tsitsipas Criticizes Madrid Masters Clay, Says it Felt “Like an Ice Rink”

Despite winning his second-round match at the Madrid Masters against Jan-Lennard Struff (3/6, 6/4, 6/3), World No. 18 Stefanos Tsitsipas expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of the clay court surface.

Speaking at a press conference after the match, Tsitsipas described the court conditions as “impossible to play on”. He elaborated, stating, “When I tried to slide, it felt like it was an ice rink. I`ve never experienced anything like this on clay before. The clay here is different from typical clay. I have a lot of experience playing on this surface, and the conditions were very unpleasant.”
