Shamil Tarpischev, the President of the Russian Tennis Federation, has shared his insights on the prospects of seventh-ranked мирового player, Mirra Andreeva.
Tarpischev cautions against placing excessive pressure on the young athlete, stating, “Everyone expects her to win every tournament, but we must avoid jeopardizing her development. A young player`s performance is inherently inconsistent; everything requires time. Overexertion or inappropriate training loads could impede her growth. While she is continually improving, achieving stability is a process that takes time. Excessive external pressure will only be detrimental.”
He further elaborated on the psychological aspects of athletic development: “Psychological burdens pose a greater challenge than physical ones. Proper moderation is essential. We should commend her for her positive trajectory and significant potential – she has a bright future ahead. However, we must not allow external factors to undermine her talent. Her coaches and support system must remain closely involved to ensure her continued development.”
