Aryna Sabalenka, the world`s number one ranked player, and Jessica Pegula, ranked fourth, will once again meet in the final of a major North American tournament. This will be their third such encounter in the past year.
Both tennis players reached the final of the Miami tournament on Friday. Previously in 2024, they competed in the finals of Cincinnati and the US Open, where Sabalenka emerged victorious in both instances.
Notably, at least one of these athletes has reached the final of every major North American tournament since the Miami Open in 2024, where Danielle Collins defeated Elena Rybakina. Last season, Pegula won the Toronto tournament by defeating Amanda Anisimova, and in Indian Wells this year, Sabalenka lost to Mirra Andreeva.
Jessica Pegula commented on the upcoming final against Sabalenka, stating that she will have chances to win if she plays good tennis, and she will try to learn from the lessons of previous matches.
