Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa, currently ranked world No. 11, has announced her decision to withdraw from the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami and the WTA 500 tournament in Charleston.
“Hello everyone. I am very sorry to announce that I will have to miss tournaments, including Miami. It is difficult for me to cope with this constant pain and the need to interrupt the game to recover again. Now I have another stage of rehabilitation ahead… I hope to return soon. Thank you all for your support,” Badosa shared in a message on her social media.
A back injury forced Badosa to withdraw from the WTA 1000 Miami Open after her third-round match, in which she defeated Clara Tauson of Denmark 6-3, 7-6(3). Subsequently, she was unable to play her fourth-round match against Alexandra Eala of the Philippines.
