Paula Badosa: “It’s a shame all my tough moments happen in Madrid”

World No. 9 Paula Badosa of Spain discussed her feelings about the WTA 1000 tournament in Madrid.

“It`s frustrating that all these difficult moments seem to happen to me specifically in Madrid. However, putting that aside, last year taught me a great deal – proving to myself that despite everything, I can still return to my level.

When you come back from a long injury, doubts creep in. If I did it once, can I do it again? You just don`t know, and questions arise. So, having to prove it to myself again, doing it for the second time, and relatively quickly – within six or seven months – gives me immense confidence. That confidence helps me through moments like this, especially after missing many important tournaments.”
