The Orlando Magic are giving their team a fresh appearance by paying homage to their historical designs. This includes the reintroduction of pinstripes on three distinct uniform sets.
In a recent press statement released on the team`s website, the franchise characterized these new jerseys as a “nostalgic tribute, highly favored by the Magic`s dedicated fanbase.” A key feature of the revamped logo is the inclusion of a “cascading star trail.” While this adds a modern touch, the design also brings back the iconic star, positioned to replace the letter `A` in both “Orlando” and “Magic” on the team`s uniforms.
Shelly Wilkes, who serves as the Magic`s executive vice president of marketing and social responsibility, commented that the inspiration for these designs was directly influenced by fan feedback. The goal was to successfully integrate the club`s past identity with its present and future.
The franchise detailed the “primary icon,” describing it as a basketball accompanied by the star trail, notably without any accompanying text. The basketball itself is blue, with the stars rendered in white, trimmed in either blue or black, set against a background that is either blue, black, or silver. The “global logo” incorporates the text “Orlando Magic,” written in white, encircling a black circle with blue trim. At the core of this circular design lies the primary icon featuring the star trail.
In anticipation of the launch, the Magic filed a total of 15 trademark applications. These applications covered four different unique trademark designs. Each of these distinctive trademarks incorporates a star motif in some form – whether it`s substituting for the `A` in “Magic,” appearing as the cascading star trail in two separate logos, or featuring a basketball enclosed within a star shape in one specific variation.
