Two-time Grand Slam doubles winner Andrey Olkhovsky commented on Mirra Andreeva`s performance at Wimbledon.
The top-ranked Russian player, Andreeva, reached the quarterfinals of the tournament before being defeated by Switzerland`s Belinda Bencic in a close match, 6/7(3), 6/7(2).
Olkhovsky stated, “Andreeva had a commendable tournament. Reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon is undoubtedly a positive outcome, not just for her, but for any competitor. Given her young age, reaching the last eight is particularly impressive. I believe Mirra had a real opportunity to win that match. It wasn`t a situation where one player was the clear favorite; Mirra certainly had the capability to secure the victory.”
“Belinda was perhaps slightly more successful on the day, if one could put it that way. The match was exceptionally tight. Regardless, this remains a strong performance for Andreeva. She should continue her efforts, and her results will likely improve further.”
