The Oklahoma City Thunder, fresh off their NBA championship, have proudly revealed their latest City Edition uniforms. These new designs pay homage to the rich Native and Indigenous cultures that are central to Oklahoma`s identity and community spirit, a state that is home to 67 American Indian tribes.
The team will debut these special uniforms during their annual Native American Heritage Night on November 19, when they face the Sacramento Kings.
Reminiscent of the turquoise City Edition design from the 2018-19 season, which also celebrated the state`s Native American communities, these new uniforms feature a deeper blue hue. They retain the distinctive interlocking geometric shapes forming `OKC` at the jersey`s center, a familiar and impactful visual.
Subtle design elements further enhance the tribute: water-like patterns run diagonally across the fabric, symbolizing the Oklahoma River and uniting the two primary colors. An expanding square pattern adorns the waistband, and a hidden turtle emblem is cleverly placed on the right leg of the shorts, adding a layer of cultural depth.
The jerseys and shorts feature eleven geometric stars on their sides, symbolizing stories passed down through generations and representing the enduring wisdom of the tribes. Furthermore, a sunset-colored sash, representing the resilience of Oklahoma`s tribes, gracefully wraps across the shoulder and shorts leg, a powerful visual statement.
Complementing the new uniforms, the Thunder will also introduce a new alternate court designed specifically for their `city night` themed games. Starting December 5, every Friday home game will be designated a city night, where the team will proudly wear these unique City Edition uniforms alongside the new, immersive court design.
