Novak Djokovic After 100th Wimbledon Win: Any History I Write at My Favorite Tournament is a Great Honor

World number six Novak Djokovic commented on achieving his 100th victory at Wimbledon. Djokovic defeated Miomir Kecmanovic (6/3, 6/0, 6/4) to reach this significant milestone at the grass-court major. This win places him second among male players for most victories at the tournament, behind only Roger Federer (105).

Djokovic stated, “I have said many times that tennis has shaped me into who I am. It has given me so much in life, providing unique experiences. I try not to take anything for granted, especially at my age. I am still competing against younger players, running on the court, sliding, doing splits.”

“Wimbledon is not just my favorite tournament; it is a dream for the majority of tennis players. Almost every child dreams of playing and winning here, and I consider myself fortunate to have been able to do so many times. Any history I write at my favorite tournament is a great honor for me,” he added.

Asked about Jannik Sinner, who recently mentioned learning significantly from Djokovic:

When asked if he sees a version of himself or traits of his game in Sinner, Djokovic replied, “Yes, I do. Obviously, we have a similar playing style. We try to play aggressively and dominate rallies from the baseline. I remember him when he was very young – 13 or 14 years old – when I first met him and played with him a bit. He was thin and tall. In a way, like me. Even then, he hit the ball hard. It was clear he had great timing and speed on his shots. He uses the same Head Speed racket as me. There`s quite a bit in common.”

“But, of course, he is unique in his own way. The work he has done with his team over the past few years is amazing in terms of progress. While everyone talks about the speed of his shots, his timing is incredible. I think he has simply reduced the number of unforced errors he had in the early years of his career. Now he is incredibly precise and constantly puts pressure on his opponent because he plays very fast,” Djokovic concluded during the press conference.
