Former Italian tennis star Nicola Pietrangeli has shared his perspective on the current world number one, his compatriot Jannik Sinner.
According to Pietrangeli, Sinner is currently handling the pressure well, suggesting he possesses a particular temperament that helps him, but he also cautioned that this situation could change.
“Sinner needs to be left in peace so he can just play,” Pietrangeli stated. “Jannik possesses a semi-German character; he doesn`t feel the pressure, despite being only 23 years old. Right now, we`re talking about a player who is deservedly the world No. 1.”
“However, I fear that if he suffers three consecutive losses, it could spell the end of the idolization surrounding him,” Pietrangeli was quoted as saying by Fanpage.
Pietrangeli`s comments highlight the immense scrutiny and high expectations placed upon the young Italian star, who recently ascended to the top ranking in men`s tennis.
