Polish reports indicate that Newcastle United has frequently scouted Roma defender Jan Ziółkowski this season. Sources from Poland suggest the young player is currently evaluating all potential moves for the summer, including a possible departure from the Italian club.
The Premier League outfit has expressed keen interest in the Polish defender as he nears the end of his inaugural Serie A season with Roma.
Ziółkowski Considers Roma Departure Amid Newcastle Interest
According to the Polish media outlet Sport.pl, the 20-year-old has attracted scouting attention from numerous clubs across Italy, France, the Netherlands, and notably, Newcastle.
However, Ziółkowski has experienced a decrease in playing time recently; his last Serie A start was on January 6 in a 2-0 win against Lecce.
Since that match, the U21 Poland international has only made five substitute appearances in Serie A under Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

During the March international break, Ziółkowski was not included in Poland’s World Cup play-off squad for matches against Albania and Sweden, as his national team ultimately failed to qualify for the tournament.

A source with direct knowledge of the situation told Sport.pl that “The national team is very important to Janek, just like playing for Roma.”
They further elaborated, “He wanted to help the national team in the play-offs, but due to his lack of club play, that wasn’t possible. Playing for the club is crucial in this context.”
“We’re considering every step that will lead to Janek playing. Including leaving,” the source concluded, hinting at a potential transfer.
Ziółkowski’s current contract with Roma is set to expire in June 2030.
The Polish centre-back has scored one goal in 19 appearances for Roma this season.
