Naomi Osaka on Her Loss to Jasmine Paolini in Miami: ‘Her Game Surprised Me Because of Her Height’

Four-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one, Naomi Osaka, discussed her defeat against Italian player Jasmine Paolini in the fourth round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami.

Osaka mentioned that this was her first match against a Top 10 player this season and her first ever encounter with Paolini.

Osaka stated, “I think just experience played a role. I haven`t played many matches against Top players like her recently. The way she plays, it caught me off guard because of her height. I didn`t realize she could hit like that.”

The match between Osaka and Paolini concluded with a score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in favor of the Italian player. Paolini is set to play against the winner of the match between Coco Gauff (USA) and Magda Linette (Poland) in the next round.
