Former world No. 3 Nadezhda Petrova commented on Daniil Medvedev`s game following his loss to Alexander Bublik in the final of the ATP 500 tournament in Halle (score 3/6, 6/7(4)).
According to Petrova, even in matches he loses, including the first round of Roland Garros, Medvedev always shows a fighting spirit and battles for every ball. She noted that the outcome of a match is often decided by just a few points. Petrova highlighted his positive mindset, citing his semifinal match in Halle against Alexander Zverev as an example, where Daniil played calmly, without excessive emotion, and confidently secured the victory.
Before this match, the head-to-head statistics were entirely in Medvedev`s favor – he had won all six previous encounters against Bublik.
Following the tournament in Halle, Daniil Medvedev will drop to the ninth position in the updated ATP rankings.
