World No. 9 Lorenzo Musetti shared his feelings about the lengthy rain delay during his match against Daniil Medvedev in Rome. The fourth-round encounter was halted for nearly three hours. The interruption occurred at a crucial moment: on Musetti`s match point, with the score at 7/5, 5/4, 40:30.
Reflecting on the unique situation, Musetti stated, “A rain delay on my match point – that had never happened in my career before, and it wasn`t easy to handle. During the three hours of waiting, I replayed that moment [the serve] hundreds of times in my mind. Restarting from such a tense point was tough, but then I managed to relax and find my rhythm.”
He added, “My serve was working perfectly, and I`m very happy. I also want to thank everyone who stayed until the end,” Musetti said in an on-court interview.
Following his victory over Medvedev, Musetti later withdrew from the doubles competition at the Rome tournament.
