Moyuka Uchijima on first Top-10 win: ‘I still don’t believe it’

World No. 56 Moyuka Uchijima shared her feelings after achieving a significant victory over Jessica Pegula in the third round of the Madrid tournament, with a final score of 6-3, 6-2.

For the Japanese player, this triumph marked her very first win against a Top 10 ranked opponent. Previously, she had lost all six of her matches against players of that caliber.

“I still can`t believe I won,” Uchijima commented during her on-court interview. “Madrid is one of my favorite cities. Just a year ago, I won an ITF tournament here, and now I`m in the third round of such a major event! The third round? I don`t even know where I`ve reached [laughs].”
