18-year-old Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva shared her thoughts on her performance at Wimbledon. She concluded her run at the tournament in the quarterfinals, losing to Switzerland`s Belinda Bencic with a score of 6/7(3), 6/7(2).
“Of course, I`m sad about the loss,” Andreeva commented at a press conference. “But I have to admit that Belinda played very well today. I felt I could have played better myself, been more focused, more aggressive, and made fewer unforced errors.”
“Today is certainly a difficult day for me,” she continued. “Nevertheless, looking back at these two weeks at Wimbledon, there are many positives to take away. I intend to keep working and improving my game.”
When asked about the specific positives, Andreeva replied: “From the very first match, my level of play consistently improved. I deliberately tried to be more aggressive, and sometimes it worked. I aimed to take the initiative to play more actively. My net game also got better. Overall, the entire tournament gave me many valuable lessons for future development.”
