Russia`s top-ranked 17-year-old tennis player, Mirra Andreeva, has addressed worries about her health and physical condition. This comes after her loss to American player Amanda Anisimova in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami.
Andreeva stated, “Everything is fine now. I wouldn`t say that I lost only because of that [health issues]. She [Anisimova] played a very good match. And I had many opportunities that I didn`t take advantage of.”
Andreeva downplayed concerns about her physical state after competing in two consecutive WTA 1000 events in Dubai and Indian Wells.
“Of course, you get a little tired, but you don`t really have a choice – you just keep playing and know that there will be rest soon. I wouldn`t say that I`m super tired,” said Andreeva, who is still participating in the Miami tournament in doubles.
Earlier reports mentioned that Andreeva experienced stomach pain three hours before her match with Anisimova, which continued during the game. In the first set, Mirra called for a medical timeout.
