AC Milan is reportedly preparing a substantial offer for Leon Goretzka – a €5 million annual salary until 2029 – as they also eye Lazio’s Mario Gila as their primary defensive acquisition for the upcoming summer transfer window, according to insights from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Rossoneri are strategically planning their squad enhancements for the 2026-27 season, a period they expect to coincide with a strong return to the Champions League.
Latest Milan Transfer Updates on Goretzka and Gila
While a new centre-forward remains Milan’s top priority this summer, the club intends to recruit at least one player for every key position.
In central midfield, the availability of free agent Leon Goretzka has attracted Milan’s attention for some time. Goretzka is also a target for domestic rivals Juventus, who have reportedly initiated preliminary discussions with his representatives. However, Milan aims to surpass their rivals with a three-year deal offering €5 million per season, as per Gazzetta.
Turning to defense, Lazio’s Mario Gila is Milan’s prime target. With his contract set to expire in 2027 and an apparent reluctance to extend his stay with the Biancocelesti, the former Real Madrid Academy product could be available this summer for a transfer fee between €20 million and €25 million.
Milan director Igli Tare, who was instrumental in bringing Gila to Lazio in 2022, reportedly maintains a strong relationship with the defender’s camp, potentially aiding negotiations.
