Marin Cilic on Playing at 40: Why Not? But You Can’t Predict the End

Former world No. 3 Marin Cilic shared his perspective on whether he could continue his professional tennis career into his 40s.

“Why not?” he mused. “You never truly know what life has in store for you, especially when you look at how players like Rafa [Nadal], Roger [Federer], or Andy [Murray] finished their careers. You might be in excellent physical condition, but the slightest issue can bring everything to a halt. You cannot predict when the end will come, so I will try to keep enjoying the game and make the most of every single opportunity.”

Cilic added, “Fortunately, I have a wonderful team and a family that travels with me whenever possible. I genuinely enjoy participating even in smaller tournaments, although I recognize that every week presents a new challenge. Everyone is striving for success, particularly the younger generation, who are perhaps even more determined now than in the past,” Cilic stated in an interview.
