Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton expressed that recent rumors connecting Christian Horner, formerly of Red Bull, to Ferrari are causing a `distraction` for his team.
These recent reports, published by the Daily Mail on Monday, suggest that Ferrari Chairman John Elkann is actively pursuing the former Red Bull team principal.
While some insiders confirmed that initial discussions have occurred, Italian sources have largely dismissed the gravity of these potential ties.
During a press conference held on Thursday before the upcoming United States Grand Prix, Hamilton was questioned about what these reports might imply regarding Ferrari`s internal dynamics. Ferrari is currently experiencing a challenging 2025 season, despite having extended Team Principal Fred Vasseur`s contract for multiple years in July.
Hamilton stated, “I have no knowledge of the origin of these rumors, so I cannot provide significant insight.”
He added, “However, it does create a slight distraction for our team. The team`s stance on renewing Fred Vasseur`s contract has been made very clear.”
Hamilton further elaborated, “Fred, myself, and the entire team are dedicated to building a strong future for the organization. Such speculation is naturally unhelpful to our efforts.”
When pressed on the veracity of the reports concerning discussions with Horner and his opinion on the 51-year-old potentially becoming team principal, Hamilton firmly replied, “I am unaware, and I will not engage with rumors.”
