Rafael Leao has taken to social media to refute claims of a dispute with Milan coach Max Allegri during a training session, reportedly stemming from concerns over his commitment and effort.
The Portuguese international had previously shown visible frustration after being substituted in the team’s loss to Lazio. Following this, he was omitted from the squad for the subsequent match against Torino. While the official reason cited for his absence was an injury, a report by Gazzetta dello Sport suggested an underlying confrontation between Leao and Allegri occurred the day before the game.
According to the report, Allegri allegedly expressed dissatisfaction during the training session, urging Leao to contribute more effectively to the team and demonstrate greater intensity in attack. Leao’s supposed reply was, “I can’t do it.” This alleged exchange reportedly led Allegri to exclude Leao from the squad entirely for Milan’s 3-2 victory over Torino.
However, Leao publicly addressed these claims on Instagram, posting a clear denial using a red cross symbol. It is also noteworthy that the reported fitness issue was deemed significant enough to keep him out of the Portugal national squad for upcoming international duties.
