Lando Norris was officially celebrated as the 2025 Formula 1 Drivers` World Champion, receiving his coveted trophy at the annual FIA Awards ceremony held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
This coronation took place just five days after he clinched his maiden title by securing third position in the season-closing Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Norris becomes the 35th driver in F1 history to earn the prestigious accolade, accepting the prize at the governing body’s end-of-year event designed to recognize global motorsport achievements.

Expressing his joy, Norris described winning the championship as “incredible.” He added, “Obviously this is a lot of people’s dreams, a lot of racing drivers’ dreams and I got to finally live it. Live that one dream that I had when I was a little kid.”
The prestigious event, marking the culmination of the FIA`s annual general assemblies week, mandates attendance from the top-three finishers in the Drivers` Championship.
However, outgoing champion Max Verstappen, who finished second in the 2025 standings, was absent. Verstappen, who had won the final race but ended up just two points shy of Norris, did not travel to Tashkent on doctor`s advice due to illness.
Despite his absence, Verstappen offered his congratulations via a video message, paying tribute to his rivals and the intense season-long battle.
“A big congratulations to McLaren and especially Lando,” said Verstappen. “You guys had an unbelievable season and it was really cool to be able to race against you guys until the end. Definitely enjoy it.”
