Lance Stroll Cleared to Race at Home Canadian GP

Aston Martin F1 driver Lance Stroll is set to make his competitive return this weekend at his home event, the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal. His participation follows his withdrawal from the previous race in Spain due to injury.

Two weeks ago, on the Saturday evening of the Spanish Grand Prix, the Aston Martin team announced that Stroll would not compete in Sunday`s race. This decision came after the Canadian driver, who had qualified in 14th place, experienced significant pain in his hand and wrist, which required surgery.

The team explained that the pain was linked to a medical procedure Stroll underwent before the start of the 2023 season, related to a wrist injury sustained in a cycling accident.

On Wednesday, Aston Martin officially confirmed that Lance Stroll is fit and ready to race at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend.

Expressing his excitement about returning, Stroll commented, “I am excited to get back behind the wheel with the team for my home Grand Prix this weekend.”

He added, “I was always going to fight hard to be ready to race in front of the Montreal crowd. I`m feeling good after my procedure and put some laps in at Paul Ricard this week to prepare.”

In a separate statement, Aston Martin confirmed the positive update: “Lance had a successful medical procedure to resolve the symptoms he has been experiencing and completed some laps in an old F1 car at Paul Ricard earlier this week.”

The team concluded by stating, “Lance is feeling fit and healthy, and is excited to compete in front of his home crowd.”
