Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has officially withdrawn from the singles competition at the upcoming Washington Open in the United States. The Wimbledon finalist opted out of the tournament, which is scheduled to take place from July 21 to 27.

In addition to Kyrgios, his compatriot Jordan Thompson has also pulled out of the event.

Their spots in the main draw will now be filled by American Aleksandar Kovacevic and Japan`s Yoshihito Nishioka.

Interestingly, Kyrgios remains on the entry list for the doubles competition at the tournament, where he is set to partner with French player Gael Monfils.
