Aston Martin team principal, Andy Cowell, has stated that they have no plans whatsoever to bring former Red Bull boss, Christian Horner, on board.
Speculation regarding Horner`s future and his potential return to the world of Formula 1 intensified considerably after his official departure from Red Bull was announced last week. This followed an agreement on the terms of his farewell from the team he had led for two decades.
According to Sky Sports, Horner, who was removed from his dual role as Red Bull Racing`s team principal and CEO in July, agreed to a reduced compensation package of around £75 million. This condition was part of a deal aimed at guaranteeing his ability to return to the sport in 2026.
Speaking in Singapore on Thursday, Haas team principal, Ayao Komatsu, reported that Horner “had approached them” and “one of our staff had an initial discussion,” but he emphasized: “Nothing further developed from that. It is finished.”
Horner had also been linked with the Aston Martin team. When asked about potential contacts at Friday`s team principals` press conference, Cowell confirmed that he had discussed the situation with team owner Lawrence Stroll.
“I spoke with Lawrence this morning to find out what he knows,” Cowell added.
