NBA star Klay Thompson`s cherished English bulldog, Rocco, has passed away after 13 years with the player.
Thompson shared his grief over Rocco in an Instagram post on Friday, reminiscing about their years together and sending his best wishes for the afterlife.
Thompson wrote that he will miss Rocco greatly, calling him a “great dynasty dog” (a nod to his successful era with the Warriors) and expressing belief that he is now “in doggy heaven.” He also thanked fans for their supportive messages.
Rocco became widely known during Thompson`s successful tenure as part of the famous “Splash Brothers” duo with the Golden State Warriors, charming fans as the All-Star`s loyal companion.
In a 2019 interview with GQ Sports, Thompson referred to the bulldog as his number one “essential,” stating that Rocco was a “loyal steed” and his first ever pet, who would forever hold a special place in his heart.
Rocco even had his own Instagram page featuring photos of himself and Thompson, boasting over 60,000 followers.
Other athletes and notable figures were among those who paid tribute to Rocco in the comments of Thompson`s post. The Golden State Warriors team also honored Rocco with a separate message.
