Juventus May Sell Key Players Without Champions League Berth

According to a report by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus faces the difficult prospect of needing to accept offers for three key starters – Khephren Thuram, Pierre Kalulu, and Gleison Bremer – if the club fails to secure Champions League qualification this season.

Juventus is currently in a tight race for a top-four finish in Serie A, sitting in fifth place, just one point behind fourth-placed Como. The team faces a crucial match against Atalanta on Saturday night that could significantly impact their European aspirations.

Potential Departures Without European Football

The absence of Champions League football next season would have a substantial impact on Juventus, not only limiting their transfer budget for new signings but also compelling the club to offload some of its valuable players to balance their financial books.

The report highlights France international Khephren Thuram as a player who could be on the move. Having joined Juventus for a modest €20 million two years ago, his current depreciation cost on the balance sheet is relatively low, making him an attractive asset for potential buyers.

Similarly, Thuram’s compatriot, Pierre Kalulu, who arrived from Milan for €17.3 million, faces a similar situation.

Gazzetta dello Sport also confirms that Juventus would be compelled to consider offers for Gleison Bremer. Reports from Tuttosport in March indicated that the Brazilian center-back has a €60 million price tag set for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Juventus Could Be Forced to Sell Starters if Champions League is Missed

Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport suggests that Juventus may have to entertain bids for prominent players like Khephren Thuram, Pierre Kalulu, and Gleison Bremer if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. This scenario would necessitate player sales to address financial implications.

The Bianconeri are currently battling for a coveted spot in the top four of Serie A, occupying fifth place and trailing fourth by a single point. A pivotal league fixture against Atalanta looms on Saturday night, which could be decisive in their European pursuit.

Impact of No Champions League Football

Failure to secure Champions League qualification would present Juventus with a dual challenge: a constrained transfer budget for new acquisitions and the imperative to offload key players to maintain financial stability.

According to the report, France’s Khephren Thuram is identified as a player who could be subject to transfer interest. His acquisition for just €20 million two years ago means his book value is low, making him a financially prudent sale.

The situation is mirrored for Kalulu, another French international who joined Juventus from Milan for €17.3 million.

Furthermore, Gazzetta dello Sport confirms that Juventus would also be open to receiving offers for Gleison Bremer. Earlier reports from Tuttosport in March had placed a €60 million valuation on the Brazilian defender for the upcoming summer market.
