Jannik Sinner on Loïs Boisson’s Breakthrough: “These Results Hopefully Give Her Confidence”

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner shared his thoughts on a practice session he had with French tennis player Loïs Boisson. The two trained together on Wednesday morning before the Roland Garros quarterfinals.

Sinner described Boisson`s breakthrough performance as “impressive.” He noted that France needs exactly this kind of “new, special” player with a strong character, adding that she appears quite calm on the court.

He mentioned that Boisson recently underwent knee surgery and expressed his hope that her current results will help boost her confidence.

Sinner recalled that they had previously crossed paths at the same tennis center and occasionally practiced together, although that was some time ago. He saw her again shortly before the tournament in the gym at Jean Bouin and chatted briefly. He noted she was in excellent spirits and highlighted how special it must be for her, as a French player, to receive a wild card and compete at Roland Garros.

He highly praised her game level, calling it “striking” and very stable. Sinner characterized her playing style as typically clay-court oriented, featuring a strong forehand hit with high spin.

Sinner explained that their practice session came about because of the rain; he called to check for available courts, and Boisson immediately agreed to warm up with him. He commented that while the women`s game style is different, with the ball often flying high with heavy spin, they had a good warm-up.

He also added that she is physically very strong. In closing, Sinner stated that Loïs “deserved” her success and wished her all the best for her future career.
