World number one Jannik Sinner of Italy dropped a set for the first time since his return to competition following a ban. In the semifinal of the Rome Masters tournament, he lost the opening set against American Tommy Paul.
Paul won the first set comfortably with a score of 6-1. The set lasted just 29 minutes.
Sinner had previously served a three-month ban for an anti-doping rule violation. The Rome tournament marks his first appearance since returning to the court.
The winner of the match between Sinner and Paul will face Spain`s Carlos Alcaraz in the final of the Rome Masters.
