James Harden’s Unexpected Court Unveiling in China

James Harden recently experienced the global impact of the NBA firsthand during his visit to China.

On Monday, as part of the LA Clippers guard`s Adidas “UNO Tour” in Guangzhou, China, an outdoor basketball court featuring a massive mural of Harden was unveiled. According to information from the Clippers, designer Yin chose imagery from the 2025 “UNO Tour” for the court`s aesthetic. The tour`s slogan, “Under No One,” was prominently displayed along one sideline, cleverly referencing Harden`s jersey number, 1.

The court`s unveiling took place in the rain. Initially, Harden appeared genuinely surprised and somewhat puzzled as staff removed the tarp covering the new court, but his reaction quickly turned to joy as he pumped his fists in excitement.

“Thank you all. I know it`s raining, but you`re all here supporting me, I love you so much,” Harden shared with the hundreds of fans present at the unveiling ceremony, expressing his gratitude despite the weather.

Just a few days earlier, thousands of people had flocked to a Guangzhou City mall for a chance to see Harden, where he generously signed his signature Adidas sneakers and various jerseys for his enthusiastic admirers.

“You never cease to amaze me; every time feels like the first… I just hope you know the love is reciprocated,” Harden later wrote in a heartfelt social media post, reflecting on the overwhelming support from his Chinese fanbase.

Since 2019, Harden has regularly toured China to celebrate the latest releases of his signature Adidas footwear. During a notable visit in 2023, while he was still playing for the Philadelphia 76ers, Harden gained significant attention for publicly criticizing Daryl Morey, the 76ers` president of basketball operations, shortly before his trade to the Clippers.

In late June, Harden finalized a new two-year contract extension with the Clippers, valued at $81.5 million. During the 2024-25 season, he showcased his consistent performance, averaging 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.7 assists, which earned him a prestigious spot on the All-NBA Third Team.
