Juan Carlos Ferrero, coach of Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz, has offered his perspective on the upcoming Wimbledon semi-final where his protégé will face American Taylor Fritz.
Ferrero characterized Fritz as a player who effectively moves the ball. He suggested that Alcaraz holds an advantage from the baseline and in overall tennis skills, although he conceded that Fritz might surpass them in serving. He anticipated the match would be a “beautiful battle,” primarily decided by baseline exchanges, and predicted a lengthy contest.
However, Ferrero also emphasized the unique nature of each match, stating that playing against Carlos presents a different challenge compared to facing someone like Karen Khachanov. While some aspects might be similar, others would differ significantly.
He affirmed that regardless of Fritz`s performance level, Carlos is fully prepared for the fight, highlighting Alcaraz`s excellent psychological condition.
Ferrero stressed the importance of Alcaraz remaining calm, getting ample rest, and recovering well to ensure he approaches the semi-final feeling fresh, especially mentally. He concluded by noting that even though Carlos has experience in high-level matches, there are always small details that can be refined.
