Following a surprising defeat at the 2026 Miami Open, Iga Swiatek announced the termination of her coaching partnership with Wim Fissette. The six-time Grand Slam champion shared the news via an Instagram post, expressing gratitude to Fissette for his contributions and wishing him future success.
Swiatek confirmed that the remainder of her team would stay unchanged as she prepares for the upcoming clay-court season. In her message, she reflected on the challenging Miami Open, acknowledging disappointment but also the valuable lessons learned. She stated her intention to take a moment for herself to process the experience and prepare for a new chapter, emphasizing a step-by-step approach.
Fissette, who previously had two stints with Naomi Osaka, joined Swiatek’s team in October 2024. Among their most notable achievements was Swiatek’s 2025 Wimbledon title, a significant triumph given her previous struggles on grass courts. However, 2025 also marked a period of lower performance on clay, a surface Swiatek had historically dominated, as they failed to secure any titles on it.
