World No. 62 Harriet Dart has apologized to her opponent for making a remark about an unpleasant smell during their match.
During a match in Rouen against Lois Boisson, Dart was heard asking the chair umpire: `Can you ask her to put on deodorant? She smells really bad.`
Dart later stated, `I want to apologize for my words on the court, I said it in the heat of the moment and I sincerely regret it.`
`That`s not the way I wanted to behave and I take full responsibility for it. I have a lot of respect for Lois and how she played today.`
`I will learn from this situation and move forward,` Dart wrote in her Instagram story.
Boisson responded humorously to the situation. She posted a photo on her Instagram story with a photoshopped deodorant and wrote: `Dove, apparently we need to collaborate`.
