Goran Ivanisevic on Coaching Elena Rybakina: Off-Court Issues Led to Departure

Goran Ivanisevic has opened up about his brief period coaching Elena Rybakina, explaining the reasons for their separation.

The Croatian tennis legend and 2001 Wimbledon champion discussed his time working with the Kazakhstani tennis player, Elena Rybakina. Ivanisevic coached Rybakina from late 2024 until January 2025.

“It was a somewhat unusual situation,” Ivanisevic stated. “I won’t go into specifics, but it was a slightly sad and strange experience. Even before I became her coach, I believed she was the best female player in the world. I admired her beautiful and effortless playing style.”

“Regrettably, there were circumstances outside of the court that I couldn`t influence and preferred not to be involved in. Consequently, I decided that leaving was the best option. I wish her all the best in her future career,” Ivanisevic said, according to reports.
