Goal-Line Technology Will Not Be Used for Italy’s World Cup Play-off Against Bosnia

Italy, under the guidance of Gennaro Gattuso, is set to face Bosnia and Herzegovina in a crucial World Cup play-off final this evening. The match, taking place at the Bilino Polje Stadium in Zenica, will proceed without the use of goal-line technology.

Reason for the Absence of Goal-Line Technology

The decision to omit goal-line technology for the Bosnia vs. Italy match is due to its non-mandatory status in football regulations. The implementation of this technology is at the discretion of the organizing football federation, and it is not typically utilized at the Bilino Polje Stadium. Therefore, for this decisive encounter, the system will not be active.

The Azzurri are vying for a spot in the World Cup for the first time since 2014. It’s also worth noting that the Bilino Polje Stadium will operate at a reduced capacity for this game, a measure taken following crowd disturbances during a previous World Cup qualifier in November.
