Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has stated that the team`s primary objective is to discover how to “exploit the full potential” of their SF-25 car. This renewed focus comes ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, following a less than ideal beginning to the Formula 1 season.

The Italian team experienced a setback at the recent Chinese Grand Prix, with both cars being disqualified. This result places them fifth in the Constructors` Championship standings, a significant 61 points behind McLaren, who currently lead. Ferrari is keenly looking to improve their performance at the upcoming race in Suzuka.

While the SF-25 has demonstrated glimpses of its capabilities, notably with Lewis Hamilton`s pole position and subsequent victory in the sprint race in Shanghai, it has not consistently challenged the top teams. Neither Hamilton nor Charles Leclerc has yet achieved a top-four finish in a full Grand Prix.

Vasseur, in the team`s preview of the Japanese GP, emphasized the need for internal focus. “As a team, our immediate priority is to ensure Charles and Lewis can consistently extract the maximum performance from the SF-25,” he said. “So far, we have only managed to achieve this optimal performance level during practice sessions and the Sprint in China.”

He further added, “Formula 1 is about precision in every aspect, from factory preparations to on-track execution and adapting to changing race conditions.”

“Once we master these details consistently, we will have a clearer understanding of our competitive position.”

Ferrari Faces Crucial Weekend in Japan

Commentary from Ted Kravitz of F1 Show:

“For me, Ferrari is the central story of this weekend.”

“Their response to what has been described in Italy as a disastrous weekend – a calamitous double disqualification – will be critical.”

“With Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc scoring only nine and eight points respectively in the drivers` championship, the focus is now on how Ferrari will react and perform.”

Regarding Hamilton`s initial period with Ferrari:

“Hamilton is likely satisfied with the general direction, especially after the Sprint victory in China. However, Ferrari needs to regain its competitive edge and momentum quickly.”
