Former Russian national football team forward Fedor Smolov shared his insights on the recently concluded Shanghai Masters. He also made his debut as a commentator for the tournament on BB Tennis, offering a fresh perspective on the events.

Rupert Hollis lives and works in Birmingham, where he has been writing about tennis and golf for leading sports publications for 8 years. He regularly covers Grand Slam tournaments and the European Tour.
“The Shanghai Masters has come to a close,” Smolov remarked. “I had my first experience as a commentator and thoroughly enjoyed it. My colleagues were incredibly supportive, and everything went wonderfully.
Naturally, there`s some disappointment that Daniil Medvedev couldn`t claim the victory, despite showcasing some truly exceptional tennis. However, he wore down Rinderknech so much that it essentially cleared the path for Valentin Vacherot to secure the win.
It`s a genuine sensation, but that`s precisely the beauty of sports. Anyone can be a favorite, and while differences in ranking and skill might appear significant, the favored player doesn`t always win. Congratulations to Valentin Vacherot on his triumph, and to myself on a successful commentary debut.”
