British tennis player Emma Raducanu commented on her successful start at the Queen`s Club tournament in London, where she advanced to the second round. She secured her place by defeating Spain`s Cristina Bucșa in her opening match with a score of 6-1, 6-2.
“I have to say, I was really focused today, so I`m very pleased with the outcome,” Raducanu stated.
“There was definitely some initial nervousness. It`s my first time playing here at Queen`s, and the crowd support was amazing.”
She added, “I`m still adjusting to playing on grass. There are certain parts of my game where I feel a little behind, and I`m actively working on improving those.”
Reflecting on her opponent, Raducanu said, “I knew this match wouldn`t be easy because Cristina beat me earlier this season. I put in a lot of effort to make sure that didn`t happen again.”
“My aim is just to stay here at Queen`s for as long as I can and get as many matches under my belt,” she concluded.
