Davide Bartesaghi: My Debt to Allegri and Milan for My Career

AC Milan’s 20-year-old defender, Davide Bartesaghi, expressed surprise at his extensive playing time this season, stating, “I attribute all my progress to Massimiliano Allegri and his team.”

The promising Milan player, Bartesaghi, has accumulated almost 2,000 minutes on the pitch for the Rossoneri this season, quickly solidifying his position as a regular starter.

He has contributed two goals and one assist in 26 appearances across all competitions so far this term.

Bartesaghi: Allegri and Milan Fostered My Confidence

“I’ve gained more at Milan than I ever anticipated. I feel fortunate and content, enjoying the full confidence of my coach, the staff, and my teammates,” Bartesaghi shared.

“My entire development is thanks to Allegri and his team. They instilled confidence in me and assisted my adaptation to various positions. I enjoy playing in my current role, but I envision myself in a three-man defense in the future. I’ve realized that being versatile is a significant asset.”

Bartesaghi, who came through the Milan Academy, confirmed that Allegri had a very clear vision upon becoming the Rossoneri coach last summer.

“Our defensive statistics last season were poor, and the coach immediately urged us to rectify them. His instructions were straightforward: prevent goals and score. He reiterates this constantly,” the defender noted.

“By working consistently every day and adhering to the coach’s directives, you continuously build upon your progress.”

“Allegri is an outstanding individual and coach. He consistently advises me to remain composed. The staff provides great support, and I share a strong bond with them. I always felt I would get an opportunity and that my time would come.”

Bartesaghi identified the Milan teammate who has been most instrumental in his inaugural full season with the senior squad.

“Gabbia stands out. I spend a considerable amount of time with him, and we share many activities,” he stated.

“On the field, Maignan serves as our leader. Rabiot also offers me much advice, while Modric inspires more through his actions than his words.”

Bartesaghi’s initial foray into senior football occurred last season, primarily with the Milan Futuro (U23) team in Italy’s third division.

He confessed, “Had it not been for Milan U23, I would have been forced to transfer to a different club and city, making it difficult to settle before another potential move.”

“The environment elsewhere is, by nature, distinct. Milan Futuro presented challenges initially, but it proved to be a pivotal stage. The club’s objective is to nurture young talent, and that team provides the perfect platform. It’s not Serie A, nor is it the Primavera league; it involves significant pressure and competition against seasoned teams.”

Milan’s second team (U23) debuted in the 2024-25 season but faced relegation to Serie D.

“That’s true,” Bartesaghi affirmed, “but without that specific experience, I wouldn’t have developed into the player I am now.”

“If I had moved elsewhere, I wouldn’t be the same player,” he added.

AC Milan is scheduled to face Napoli tomorrow in a crucial Serie A fixture at the Stadio Maradona.

“This is one of the season’s most critical matches, absolutely vital for the concluding stages,” Bartesaghi concluded.

“We are preparing for it with the utmost focus it merits. There will be emotional intensity, yet also a strong sense of self-awareness. We are a formidable team, capable of challenging any opponent.”
