Daria Kasatkina on Her Move to Australia

World No. 12 Daria Kasatkina stated that changing citizenship was a forced measure.

“I had to do it because I couldn’t think about going back to a place where people with the same orientation as me are discriminated against.

Australia is a special place. Coming here every year, I honestly envied how people live there, how open they are, and what a cool place it is. I couldn’t believe that one day I would be able to call this place home, and now I can play under the Australian flag. Incredible feelings. Being accepted and loved here is all I asked for,” Kasatkina said in an interview with Tennis Channel.
