Danielle Collins Explains Key to Defeating Iga Swiatek in Rome

Danielle Collins of the United States in action during the second round of the Internazionali BNL D'Italia WTA 1000 tennis tournament

World No. 35 Danielle Collins shared her thoughts and feelings after her significant 6-1, 7-5 victory over top-ranked Iga Swiatek in the third round of the tournament in Rome. This win marked a career milestone for the American, being her first time defeating a Top 5 ranked opponent on a clay court.

“I`ve played against Iga many times before, and the head-to-head record has been in her favor. When you compete in so many intense matches, giving your absolute best, but still come up short, you learn a great deal from those experiences. Today, I was finally able to put those lessons into practice,” Collins stated during her post-match interview.
