World No. 35 Danielle Collins shared her thoughts and feelings after her significant 6-1, 7-5 victory over top-ranked Iga Swiatek in the third round of the tournament in Rome. This win marked a career milestone for the American, being her first time defeating a Top 5 ranked opponent on a clay court.
“I`ve played against Iga many times before, and the head-to-head record has been in her favor. When you compete in so many intense matches, giving your absolute best, but still come up short, you learn a great deal from those experiences. Today, I was finally able to put those lessons into practice,” Collins stated during her post-match interview.
