Coco Gauff has stated that she would choose another Grand Slam title over becoming the world number one ranked player. The American tennis star, who won the US Open in 2023, is currently ranked third in the world, with her highest ranking being number two.
When asked what she would prefer – another Grand Slam victory or reaching the number one spot – Gauff responded: “Another Grand Slam. I always say that. I think people remember you more for Grand Slam titles than for being number one in the rankings. Of course, achieving both would be amazing.”
She continued, “But personally, I want another title, especially since I only have one so far. If I had, like, four Grand Slams and had never been world number one, maybe I would think differently. But with just one Grand Slam title, I want to win more to solidify my status,” Gauff shared at a press conference in Miami.
