The Cleveland Cavaliers basketball club is returning to a legendary period in its history, having unveiled its “Classic Edition” uniforms for the 2025-26 season. The revamped navy blue alternate threads, originally worn by the team from 2005 to 2010, were introduced on Wednesday. This era is notably remembered for the team`s run to the 2007 NBA Finals, led by then-star LeBron James.
These new jerseys also commemorate the franchise`s 55th anniversary. Described by the Cavaliers in a press release as an “exact replica,” the uniform features a deep navy blue base adorned with wine and gold retro motifs. The word “Cleveland” is displayed on the jersey`s chest in the team`s early 2000s-themed throwback font with a gold outline. Players` names and numbers on the back are rendered in white lettering with a gold border.
The accompanying shorts showcase Cleveland`s iconic throwback `C` logo, featuring a sword piercing through it. Both the jersey and shorts are finished with a striped trim in wine, navy, and gold. According to the club, the original alternate uniforms paid homage to the “Miracle of Richfield” jerseys from the 1970s, which had an old-school design with white, yellow, and red striped trimming, celebrating the 1975-76 season.
Cleveland will complement these jerseys with a special “Classic Edition” court, incorporating design elements from the Cavaliers` hardwood of the 2000s era. The team plans to wear this retro look in 11 games during the season, including their highly anticipated Christmas Day matchup against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. The uniforms will make their debut on November 5th in a home game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
